Community Updates

News, milestones, and developments shaping pickleball in Sacramento.

Sac to State — Supporting Sacramento’s Student Athletes

Supporting local high school pickleball players through community-funded opportunities and competition.

Pickleball continues to gain momentum among younger players — from middle school students to high school athletes — but many Sacramento-area schools still do not have official pickleball clubs or team programs.

Even without established school teams, Wade Morrow of Inderkum High School and Titus Libell of Folsom High School stepped up to represent their schools at the State High School Pickleball Tournament, competing as singles players against athletes from across California.

Through the Sac to State campaign, the Sacramento pickleball community came together to help support travel and tournament expenses so these student-athletes could experience state-level competition and proudly represent Sacramento on a bigger stage.

What made the campaign special was not just the results — it was the community support behind it and the opportunity for these players to be part of something bigger than themselves.

Even without full school programs in place, these athletes showed what is possible for the future of youth pickleball in Sacramento. More importantly, the campaign reflected what Sactown Spirit is all about — supporting youth players, building confidence through competition, and helping create opportunities for the next generation of pickleball athletes in Sacramento.

Sactown Pickleball hopes to help encourage the development of more school clubs, youth programs, and student participation throughout the region as the sport continues to grow among younger players.
